‘SOMBRA’ …

In the studio with two great contributing musicians for the recording of Markus Gleissner’s new album ‘Essential Neotropical’.

The track ‘Sombra’ featuring the Charango and Cavaquinho played by music teacher and studio musician Markus Strasser – written by Markus Gleissner and Marcus Strasser.

Born in February 1979 in Burghausen, Marcus Strasser is a premier music educator, producer, and Lanikai Ukulele Artist of the Year (2016). Based in Neuötting since 2006, he leverages a deep academic background from the University of Passau—where he pioneered a specialized left-handed guitar method—to bridge the gap between pedagogy and professional performance.

Marcus is a versatile studio musician and producer with a portfolio featuring talent from “DSDS” and “Das Supertalent,” as well as regional artists like Armin Eiber. Beyond the studio, he is an award-winning video creator known for viral parodies of major TV formats. Since 2018, his work has achieved international reach, with daily placements across global networks including HBO, ZDF, Pro7, and RTL.

And ‘Tropical Sin’ featuring the Pivana played by Sandro Friedrich written by Markus Gleissner – Sandro began his musical education with Baroque music. For over 40 years he has been working with instruments and music of many cultures. His skills have grown to include an astonishing spectrum of over 300 different wind instruments.

As musician and composer, Sandro’s strength lies in the originality and passion of his melodic lines, the power of his rhythmic grooves and his ability to competently and flexibly support diverse musical atmospheres. His technical knowledge enables recording jobs via internet in addition to traditional studio work and live performances.

He has performed as an orchestral soloist for presentations of film music, including an international debut performance of Howard Shore’s “Lord of the Rings Symphony” with the 21st Century Orchestra under the direction of Ludwig Wicki and performances of the music of Shigeru Umebayashi under the direction of Dirk Brossé at various international film festivals.

LATIN / ECLECTIC / COOL

A vibrant collection of modern Latin-influenced tracks, blending tropical rhythms with modern production. Moving between chilled grooves and upbeat energy, some with vocals, others just underscore. ESSENTIAL NEOTROPICAL is radiant and full of colour.
