Whose Vote Counts…

A great new placement with APM Music for Netflix’s highly topical Documentary Series ‘Whose Vote Counts’ – featuring ‘Perspective’ a subtle minimal track by Dick Walter from Score 012 / Continuum.

“Elections aren’t just a measure of what parties and candidates people prefer; they’re a measure of who counts in a country.” Vox’s new Netflix special series ‘Whose Vote Counts’ seeks to find out why Americans vote at much lower rates than most other developed countries, and one of the most common reasons given is that people don’t think their vote matters. All kinds of systems unique to the United States keep voters from the polls, tip elections in favour of moneyed interests, and give some votes a lot more power than others.

SCORE 012 / CONTINUUM

ORCHESTRAL / AMBIENT / MINIMALISM

Continuum is a companion album to Score 001/Momentum, and is, once again, a collection of orchestral pieces for strings, woodwind, percussion, keyboards, harp and some electronic, atmospheric backdrops.

Although the minimalist techniques used on these pieces have been part of the composer’s armoury for nearly half a century, the music has a fresh and contemporary feel, and this makes it eminently suitable for use in a surprisingly wide variety of media productions. Examples can be found in both drama, where an atmosphere needs to be established, maintained and developed, and in documentaries, from high finance to history, cosmic exploration to cottage industry.

The almost trance-inducing nature of minimalist music makes it perfect for establishing an atmosphere, without interfering with dialogue or sound effects, while establishing a sense of continuity, which can be hard to achieve by more melodic material.
